Here is a portion of Scene Four of Act One from King Lear performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company. Here is Lear's reaction to Goneril's defiance against him after she demands that he give up 100 of his soldiers. Goneril has no lines in this excerpt, though her character still has a strong presence. This is the first moment that Lear is seen to have recognized his daughter's disloyalty. This is also a clear turning point both in the plot and for the audience, as Lear's sanity begins to unravel in his mania.
This is a compilation of scenes from Midsummer Night's Dream from a professional company's tour in the UK. This clip showcases Act One Scene Two and Act Two Scene One, featuring Puck, the fairies, and Titania in the magic forest, as well as the mechanics. This is a more modern adaptation with modern costumes, and creatively sparse set pieces. This clip gives new life to a very classical text through modern elements, and I would be interested to see more of the play in this context.
This is a movement based piece based on "Watching the Sleeping Lover" from Savage Love. I think this video is a beautiful representation of what this section is trying to communicate. The fact that the two actors are two men makes a statement that speaks to the unrestricted borders of love. The movement paired with the song and text gives the text a very literal meaning and representation of the beauty, chaos, and inner turmoil that one can feel towards a significant other while in the midst of the throes of love, as well as the stationary peace that the other can feel at the same time. I would be interested to see more pieces from Savage Love expressed through movement as well.
